Liturgical living is the way we approach the days and seasons of the liturgical year. In regards to the Mass, we see different colors of vestments on our priests, different decorations in the church and we hear different hymns.
At home, we can specifically a focus on bringing those observations and devotions associated with specific seasons and months and days home with us from Mass, so they are part of our daily lives and part of our family.
As a Church Family, we prioritize various celebrations and observances at Church beyond Mass so as to grow in holiness and become saints.
What is a Liturgical Year?
The Catholic liturgical calendar helps us to observe the seasons and months and days of the liturgical year.
A yearly calendar divides time into months and days. But the liturgical calendar divides time into the seasons that mark various time periods of Jesus' life: Advent, Christmas, ordinary time, Lent, Easter, ordinary time.
The liturgical calendar also identifies holy days: feast days celebrating the saints, and important events in the lives of the Holy Family and the early Church. There are days for feasting and days for fasting, seasons for preparation, for penance, for celebration.
He Has Risen! Allelujiah!
"Jesus said: I am the resurrection. Anyone who believes in me, even though that person dies, will live," - John 11:25
Join us for the celebration of the season of Eastertide: Not just one day - but a season lasting 50 days, culminating with the feast of Pentecost!
There are numerous creative resources for your family to begin living liturgically in your home. We recommend Catholic All Year: Liturgical Living to begin your journey.
