Confirmation is the sacrament of Christian maturity, which perfects the grace of Baptism.  Confirmation equips the person with the power of the Holy Spirit for the mission of the Church.  

By the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.

8th Grade Confirmation

Confirmation is typically received in the 8th grade in the diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend with a 2-year preparation, beginning in 7th grade.  Learn about youth confirmation here.

Confirmation of baptized Catholic adults, who have received First Communion but have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation, takes place each year by the bishop on the Feast of Pentecost (50 days after Easter).  Spiritual preparation and education toward receiving Confirmation begin in the new year.  Contact Michael Dopp ([email protected]) for more information.
