Faith
Sharing
Faith sharing is telling each other our
individual reflections of what God has been or is doing in our lives.
Faith Sharing in Small Christian Communities inspires us by seeing how God's
grace is working within us.
ANYONE
CAN DO IT!!!!
Here is an example of how an SCC might
experience faith sharing:
- The community gathers.
- The leader plays a prearranged song.
Note: The role of leader may be shared by some or all of the members of
community, or it may always be the responsibility of the pastoral
facilitator.
- The leader reads a prearranged reading from
Scripture or from another spiritual book, or the group can focus on any life
experience common to the community.
- The leader calls
to mind a relevant experience to start.
- Each member reflects in silence on how
this experience affects them. "Does this remind me of a time when I
felt God close to me? When? How?"
- After a period of reflection and
prayer, the
leader opens the time of sharing. As volunteers from the group share
their experiences, the other members are silent, attentive, and
respectful. We do not dialog with the person sharing. We affirm what
the person is sharing by looking directly at the person. Verbal
affirmations are held until later. We do not preach at each other. We just share our own experiences when it is our turn. No
one is ever forced to share.
- Between each individuals sharing, the
community is silent taking in what each person has said and thanking God for
the grace in sharing. Silence is OK!
- After everyone has finished, the
leader may close with a shared prayer or some other prearranged prayerful
way.
